The Lions made light work of the Stormers in the Currie Cup on Friday, running out 36-12 winners at home. It was a comfortable victory that put them back on track after a mixed run of results.
They camped in the final third for long stretches and punished the visitors from a corner. The Stormers simply had no answer to the pace and structure the Lions showed.
The hosts had looked shaky of late. They dropped points against the Sharks in a 22-22 draw and then lost to the Blue Bulls 29-38 before that heavy defeat to New Zealand. This performance was a step in the right direction.
The Stormers, meanwhile, arrived with a 50-26 loss to the Bulls fresh in memory. They failed to find a way back into it and let the gap open quickly.
The win puts the Lions in a stronger position in the standings. The Stormers must now regroup after another defeat.
