The result leaves the hosts fourth with 21 points while the visitors remain top of the table on 50 after 22 matches. Joao Carlos opened the scoring in the 53rd minute, giving Nantong Zhiyun the lead they had been pressing for. The home side dominated possession with 54% and created the better chance, registering one big opportunity compared to their opponents' single big chance. By then they were pushing for a second goal, but Guangzhou E-Power weathered the storm.
Beshathan Zanhar rescued a point for the visitors with a 90th-minute strike. The away side had played the second half a man up in terms of attacking intent, and their late goal reflected that shift. Things came to a head in the final moments when the equalizer finally materialised after sustained pressure.
Substitutions shaped the second half narrative. O. Camara and Wang Jingbin came on together at the start of the second period, while Guangzhou brought on Zhang Jingzhe and E. Gonzalez in the 68th minute. The home side made three changes in the final third of the match, bringing on Xiao Kun, Wang Chien-Ming and Deng Yubiao.
Statistically the match told two different stories. Nantong Zhiyun made 78 attacks compared to Guangzhou's 84, but the home side took 8 shots within the penalty area while the visitors managed only 6. Both teams shot with similar accuracy at around 20%, and each created just one big chance. The difference came in clearances — Guangzhou made 27 to Nantong's 14.
The result extends Nantong Zhiyun's unbeaten run to eight matches across all competitions. Four of those results have been draws, suggesting a side that struggles to close out games but rarely falls apart completely. Guangzhou E-Power extended their unbeaten run to eight as well, but this time it came with a win in the previous match before this draw.
