Orbit College hosted Lerumo Lions in the first division on Tuesday and came away with a 1:2 defeat. The visitors took all three points at regular season stage three, extending their unbeaten run to eight matches across all competitions.
And here's the thing — you don't need to watch the full ninety minutes to see what changed. Orbit had drawn their opener before losing to Lesterfield, while Lerumo opened with a victory and then shared points with Venda. Both sides came in with something to prove, and the visitors proved it first.
To be fair, the attacking numbers don't tell you much. Zero attacks recorded for each side isn't exactly a highlight reel, but cup football has its own rules and this wasn't a cup match. What matters is that Lerumo found a way back into games when they needed to, and Orbit couldn't afford another slip after that opening draw.
By then the table was already speaking. Lerumo sit sixth with four points from two games — one win, one draw, no losses. Orbit drop to thirteenth on a single point, their only positive being that share against Hungry Lions.
The three-point gap between them isn't enormous yet, but this is where you see the difference. Lerumo have kept their nose ahead, Orbit are chasing. The academy graduate marked his first start with a goal for the visitors, and that might be the only moment that counts in the end.
