Levanger put eight past Strindheim in the first round of the NM Cup on Friday at Abra Hallen. The visitors dominated from start to finish, with M. Hoiseth scoring four goals and J. Horten adding two more to secure a comprehensive victory.
Hoiseth struck twice in the opening quarter, opening the scoring in the sixth minute before doubling his tally nine minutes in. Horten then found the net at the 19-minute mark, and Hoiseth restored the two-goal cushion before halftime when he scored again at forty minutes.
The second half saw Levanger show no signs of easing off. Horten claimed his second goal in the seventy-third minute, and Hoiseth completed his hat-trick shortly after in the seventy-fourth. Sundnes added a seventh in the seventy-seventh minute, with Beyene rounding off the scoring in the eighty-eighth.
The statistics tell their own story. Levanger registered six-six attacks to Strindheim's fifty-five, while the visitors claimed ten corners against just one for the hosts. Shots on target showed a similar disparity — eleven for Levanger against a single effort from Strindheim that failed to trouble the keeper.
And here's the thing about a scoreline like that — it doesn't require much analysis to understand. Hoiseth's brace in the opening ten minutes set the tone, and Strindheim never really recovered. By then they were already three goals down and had nothing left to play for.
For Levanger, this result extends their recent good form. They had beaten Tref 3-0 in their last league outing and followed up with a 2-2 draw against Trug/Lade. This cup victory keeps their momentum going as they look ahead to the next round.
