Kladno edge past Vitkovice in tight Extraliga opener
Kladno claimed a 4-3 victory over Vitkovice in the Extraliga on Wednesday evening, moving to the top of the table with a perfect record. Vitkovice, already sitting 13th after one game, suffered their second consecutive defeat. And here's the thing — the result flipped what looked like a straightforward home advantage on paper.
The visitors had already won both of their opening fixtures, beating Mlada-Boleslav 2-1 before dropping a heavy 5-2 defeat to Sparta Prague. Vitkovice, by contrast, had lost their solitary match 6-3 to Trinec and now carried a three-game losing streak into this fixture. To be fair, the hosts had shown flashes earlier in the season with a 4-1 win over Olomouc, but consistency has been elusive so far.
