Belenenses moved further clear at the top of Liga 3 after beating Vitória de Sernache 3-1 on Saturday evening. The result extends the visitors' winning run to four straight games, while the hosts remain rooted in ninth place with just one point from four matches.
Nuno Tomas gave Vitória de Sernache hope with a first-half goal in the 43rd minute, but Belenenses turned it around after the break. A. Dias equalised in the 55th minute before Bruninho put the visitors ahead in the 69th. J. Oliveira sealed the win with a late goal in the 88th minute.
Belenenses dominated possession at 61 per cent and registered 156 attacks compared to the hosts' 112. They took 13 shots in total, with seven on target, yet managed to score three. The hosts managed only four shots on target from 112 attacks, and things came to a head when the visitors finally took control.
Substitutions followed the goals. A. Dias came off in the 67th minute after his equaliser, and Bruninho was withdrawn in the 74th. Chamito replaced him, while A. Afonso had already been brought on for Vitória de Sernache in the 64th minute.
The match produced six yellow cards in total. Cesinha and M. Bandarra were booked for the hosts, while D. Tavares, T. Moninhas, J. Muriel and Diego collected cautions for Belenenses. No red cards were issued.
Belenenses now sit 11 points clear of their nearest rivals after four wins from four. Vitória de Sernache's record stands at one draw and three defeats, leaving them four points off safety with only one match remaining in the regular season.
