Spokane Velocity took all three points away from Westchester on Friday evening, winning 3-1 in the USL League One Group Stage. The visitors had been in control for long stretches before the final whistle, with their fifth-place standing speaking for itself.
Westchester struck first through D. Guezen in the fourteenth minute, a moment that had the home side believing they could hold the line. To be fair, their shape looked organized enough to weather the storm, but then came the penalty in the seventeenth. N. Brett converted from the spot and suddenly the match had shifted on its axis.
Spokane doubled their advantage before half-time when S. John-Brown found the net in the forty-fourth minute. The hosts made changes in P. Elias, but the damage was already done. By then the visitors had sat deep and soaked it up when needed, then hit on the break with clinical efficiency.
