F91 Dudelange secured a 2-1 victory over Viltz in the National Division's fifth round on Sunday. The result lifts the visitors to 13th place with three points, while the hosts remain 11th on four points after five matches.
Dudelange started brighter and took the lead early. They held onto their advantage despite a red card for Viltz, who had to play much of the second half with ten men. The hosts turned to the kids in defence but could not find a way back into it.
The statistics tell a clear story. Dudelange enjoyed 60 per cent possession and registered 84 attacks compared to 77 for Viltz. The visitors also won more corners, six to none, and earned 22 free kicks against 13 for the hosts. Viltz saw one player sent off and collected four yellow cards.
For Viltz this was another difficult outing. They have not won since their 7-2 victory over Swift Esperan on August 9. The last four matches brought one draw and three defeats, including heavy losses to Eupen and Victoria Rosport.
Dudelange's form has been uneven too. They opened the season with a 3-2 win against US Rumelange but have lost their last three league games before this turnaround. The result means they stay in touch with the bottom half and keep their hopes alive.
