Adilson Angel Abreu de Almeida Gomes

Angel Gomes came through the Manchester United academy, where he arrived in 2006 at the age of six, and made his first-team debut in May 2017. He was released when his contract ended in June 2020, and signed for Lille OSC that August. His first season at the French club was spent on loan at Boavista, where he made 30 appearances and scored six goals. Back at Lille, he established himself as a regular starter and won the Trophée des Champions in 2021, though he did not feature in the final against Paris Saint-Germain.

In July 2025, Gomes moved to Olympique de Marseille on a free transfer, signing a contract until 2028. That stay was brief: within months he had joined Wolverhampton Wanderers on loan for the rest of the 2025–26 season, a deal that included an option to buy. The option was not taken up, and the loan ended with Wolves relegated to the Championship.

Gomes made his senior England debut in September 2024, coming on as a substitute in a 2–0 UEFA Nations League win over Ireland, having previously been eligible to represent Portugal through his father or Angola through his mother. He had already won a European title with England at Under-21 level in 2023, as part of the side that lifted the Under-21 Championship that summer.
