A. Velasco

Antony Velasco arrived at Academia Anzoátegui in January 2025 on a free transfer, scoring twice on his debut against Rayo Zuliano on 31 January. By the time the Apertura tournament reached its midpoint he had six goals from ten matches, having found the net six times in his opening five appearances alone.

The Colombian forward, born in San José de Cúcuta, started his senior career at Cúcuta Deportivo, though his time there was brief: two appearances in the 2019 Apertura for a combined 38 minutes, without a goal. His path then crossed into Venezuelan football, first with Real Frontera in the Liga FUTVE 2. He joined Ureña SC in 2023, where he finished as the club's top scorer with 13 goals and helped the team win the Liga FUTVE 2 title, earning promotion to the first division in the process.

He moved to Angostura FC in January 2024, again on a free transfer, where he added three goals across the season. A year later he moved on once more, this time to Academia Anzoátegui.

Antony Velasco should not be confused with the Argentine forward of the same surname, Alan Velasco, a Boca Juniors player and a winner of the South American U-17 Championship in 2019 — the two share no career overlap.
