About the player
Dovbnya's medal from the 2021–22 season came with three appearances on it. He was Torpedo Moscow's second choice as they won the Russian Football National League and went up to the Premier League; across those three matches he conceded four goals and kept one clean sheet.
The route there ran through most of Russian football's geography. He came out of Moscow youth football — Kometa, Neftyanik, the Spartak-2 sports school, Futbolnoe Delo — and started in the amateur game with Znamya Truda and Rosich. His first substantial run of football was abroad: 52 appearances for Haka in the Finnish Veikkausliiga across 2007 and 2008, more than he would make anywhere in the decade that followed.
Back in Russia the pattern turned uneven. Spells at Sibir Novosibirsk and Nizhny Novgorod passed without a league appearance. Podolye gave him 24, then Torpedo 27, before a loan to Luch-Energiya in Vladivostok became a permanent move in February 2014; he played 41 matches there over two seasons. Dnepr Smolensk brought none at all. SKA-Khabarovsk brought 42 — his longest settled stretch since Finland. Orenburg and Rotor Volgograd used him sparingly, 13 matches and six.
Shinnik Yaroslavl signed him as a free agent in June 2023 and played him 33 times, and in July 2024 Spartak Moscow took him on the same terms. He has one official appearance for the club in the Premier League. His contract was extended in June 2025 and runs to the summer of 2026.
He was made a Master of Sports of Russia in 2013.
