Alexis Maldonado

The move that ended a career-long stay came in August 2025, when Alexis Maldonado left Banfield to sign for Belgrano. He had joined Banfield's academy in 2013 and worked his way through the ranks before making his first-team debut in October 2017 against Estudiantes, starting a match that finished level at 1-1. He went on to make close to 120 appearances for the club across all competitions, establishing himself as a regular fixture in defence.

The transfer to Belgrano was structured as part of a deal that also sent Nicolás Meriano to Banfield on loan, and Maldonado signed a contract running through to December 2027. He quickly settled into the Belgrano back line, playing over 30 league matches in his first season along with appearances in the Copa Argentina.

That first season delivered the biggest moment of his career to date. Belgrano won the Torneo Apertura, the club's first top-flight championship, beating River Plate 3-2 in the final in May 2026. Maldonado played in that match.

Standing at 188cm, he offers a physical presence at centre-back, and his right foot remains his stronger side. He has yet to add international recognition to his résumé, with no record of appearances for any of Argentina's national sides.
