Blair Spittal

Blair Spittal made his way into professional football through Rangers' youth ranks before dropping into the lower leagues with Queen's Park, where he turned professional in 2012. It was there, in the 2013–14 season, that he first drew wider notice, earning a place in the PFA Scotland Scottish League Two Team of the Year. A free transfer took him to Dundee United in 2014, and he was part of the squad that won the 2016–17 Scottish Challenge Cup, although injury kept him out for the closing stages.

At Partick Thistle, whom he joined on a free transfer in 2017, Spittal established himself as a regular goal threat from midfield, scoring eight goals in all competitions in 2018–19 to be named the club's Player of the Year. A move to Ross County followed in 2019, interrupted by a loan spell back at Partick Thistle, where he made four appearances and scored once before being recalled in January 2021.

His most productive spell came at Motherwell, whom he joined on a free transfer in 2022. In the 2023–24 season he was the club's top scorer with 13 goals, nine of them in the league, and was named Scottish Premiership Player of the Month for February 2024. That form preceded his move to Heart of Midlothian later in 2024, when he signed a three-year contract on a free transfer.

Spittal has represented Scotland at Under-17 and Under-19 level, with a call-up to the U19 squad in February 2024, though he has not featured for the senior side.
