About the player
Jamie McCart came through the Celtic academy and made his senior debut for the club in 2016. Spells at Inverness Caledonian Thistle, St Mirren and Alloa Athletic gave him regular football away from Glasgow, and he signed permanently with Inverness in June 2018.
The defining chapter of his career so far came at St Johnstone. After joining in January 2020, McCart made 48 appearances in all competitions during the 2020–21 season, in which the club won both the Scottish Cup and the Scottish League Cup — a domestic double the Perth side had never previously achieved.
McCart moved south in June 2022, when Rotherham United signed him on a three-year contract. Loan spells at Leyton Orient and Barnsley followed; at Leyton Orient, he helped the club win the EFL League Two title in the 2022–23 season.
McCart left Rotherham for Heart of Midlothian in January 2025, signing a four-and-a-half-year deal. At youth international level, he was capped six times for Scotland U19 and once for the U21s, and was part of the Scotland U20 squad that won bronze at the 2017 Toulon Tournament, beating the Czech Republic 3-0 in the third-place match.
