Carlos Moreno joined the club's academy at the age of ten. He made his senior debut in a goalless draw with Cobresal in the Copa Chile and later added a single appearance in the Chilean league.

He returned to Pachuca in 2019 and still needed almost two more years to break into the first team, finally making his Liga MX debut against Monterrey in the Guardianes 2021 tournament. Along the way he has collected the Apertura 2022/23 league title and the 2024 CONCACAF Champions Cup.

On the international stage his path has been slower. He was part of the Mexico under-23 squad that won the 2020 CONCACAF Olympic qualifying tournament, but as third-choice goalkeeper he did not play a minute. A first call-up to the senior team followed in 2025, when he was named in Mexico's squad for the CONCACAF Nations League finals, which the side went on to win. He missed his chance to be involved on the pitch: without a valid visa in hand, he could not travel with the squad ahead of the semi-final against Canada, joined training only once the paperwork was sorted, and did not feature in the match. He is still waiting for his first official appearance for the senior national team.
