Chicago's academy has produced its share of players who moved through the pipeline without much notice. Dylan Borso is one of the exceptions.

That detour came in 2024, when Borso spent a season at Wake Forest University. He finished the campaign as the team's top assistman, setting up four goals in 24 appearances.

The rest of his development happened with Chicago Fire II in MLS NEXT Pro. He announced himself there in 2023 with a goal on his debut against Sporting KC II, a performance that earned him the league's rising star award for that round. He was still finding the net for the reserve side into September 2025, scoring against Atlanta United 2 even as his team lost 5-2.

On 20 December 2024, Chicago Fire signed Borso to a three-year Homegrown contract, converting his years in the academy into a first-team deal without a transfer fee changing hands.

Internationally, Borso has featured for the United States at under-20 level, with two appearances recorded for that age group, and has more recently been included in national team call-ups. He has yet to appear for the senior US side, and has not won a trophy with Chicago Fire's first team.
