About the player
Daniel Smékal came through the Baník Ostrava academy. His senior career began on loan to FC Odra Petřkovice in 2020, followed by a spell at FC Vítkovice, before he returned to Baník Ostrava in 2021 — where he spent two seasons mostly with the reserve side in the MSFL rather than the first team.
Loaned to MFK Skalica in the Slovak Niké Liga for the 2023/24 season, Smékal got regular top-flight minutes.
In September 2025, Smékal transferred to FK Pardubice in the Chance Liga, taking the number 9 shirt. The fee was not disclosed.
At international level, Smékal has represented the Czech Republic at U20 level, winning two caps in 2021 against Romania and England.
