David Lazar

He started out at Pro Juventude Tileagd in his home commune, moved to Foresta Tileagd and, at just 14, broke into that club's first team, helping it earn promotion to Liga IV. A spell at Bioland Paleu followed before his career turned professional at CSU Voința Sibiu, where in the 2009/10 season he won Liga III, the third tier of Romanian football.

The longest chapter of his career came at CS Pandurii Târgu Jiu, where he spent seven years and made more than 100 appearances across all competitions, interrupted by loan spells back at Voința Sibiu and at FC Botoșani. A move abroad to Danish side Vejle Boldklub in 2017 yielded a single appearance before he returned to Romania that same year to join FC Astra Giurgiu.

He reached the Romanian Cup final twice with the club, in 2018/19 and 2020/21, and lost both, to Viitorul and to Craiova, each time after extra time. In the summer of 2021 he moved to CS Universitatea Craiova, where he won the Romanian Supercup later that year, a match settled on penalties after CFR Cluj were held goalless, though Lazar did not feature on the pitch that day.

At international level, Lazar's involvement with the senior Romania side has been limited to a single cap, a friendly draw with Belarus in November 2020, alongside four appearances earlier for the under-21s.
