David Volk

David Volk came through Rubin Kazan's youth ranks in his home city before a brief detour to Neftekhimik and a return to Rubin's reserve side. His path to first-team football, though, ran through Baltika Kaliningrad, where he signed as a free agent and made his professional debut, spending time out on loan at Baltika-2 along the way.

The move that reshaped his career came in January 2023, when Volk joined Dynamo Makhachkala on a free transfer. The club was still finding its feet in the second tier, and he played a season that ended with Dynamo as runners-up in the Russian First League — a result that sent the club into the Russian Premier League for the first time in its history. He made his top-flight debut the following July, and has since gone on to make more than fifty appearances for the club across all competitions.

Volk's performances at the new level did not go unnoticed. In November 2024 he received his first call-up to the senior Russian national team, for friendlies against Brunei and Syria, though he did not take the field in either match. It followed an earlier involvement with Russia's under-16 side several years before, part of a long international arc that has yet to produce a senior appearance.

At Dynamo Makhachkala, a club still adjusting to life among Russian football's elite, he remains the man between the posts, carrying the goalkeeping duties that helped get them there in the first place.
