Djeidi Gassama

Djeidi Gassama's rise began in the Paris Saint-Germain academy, which he joined in 2019 after passing through the youth ranks at AS Carrières Grésillons, Poissy, Mantes and Brest. He signed his first professional contract with PSG in July 2020, and when he made his senior debut for the club in May 2022, coming on as a substitute against Montpellier, he did so as part of the squad that won the 2021–22 Ligue 1 title.

He spent time on loan at Belgian side K.A.S. Eupen, where he scored twice in 19 appearances, before Sheffield Wednesday paid around £2.2 million for him in August 2023. He went on to make 78 league appearances for the club, scoring 10 goals, and was voted its Player of the Year for 2024–25 before Rangers signed him on a four-year deal in July 2025 for a reported fee of the same amount.

Gassama has settled quickly at Rangers. Across all competitions this season he has scored nine goals and added five assists in 59 appearances, with four of those goals coming in the Champions League and two in the Europa League alongside his contribution in the Premiership.

Having represented France at under-20 level, earning two caps in September 2022, he switched allegiance to Mauritania and made his senior debut for the country in a friendly defeat to Argentina in March 2026. He has since added further caps against Angola and Niger.
