About the player
Elmer Vauhkonen made his name as a schoolboy sprinter before football took over: he set a Finnish national record in the 40-metre dash, clocking 5.3 seconds.
Born in Lapinlahti, Vauhkonen came up through PK-37 before spells in the KuPS academy and, from 2022, at HJK Helsinki. He also featured for HJK's senior side in the Liigacup during that spell.
A free transfer took him to IF Gnistan in November 2024, where he made six Veikkausliiga appearances the following year. In August 2025 he moved on loan to TPS for the rest of the season, scoring once in nine Ykkösliiga appearances, and in December 2025 the move was made permanent on a two-year deal.
Vauhkonen has represented Finland at every youth level from U16 upwards. His most productive spell came at U17, where he scored three goals in 15 caps.
