About the player
The name is the first thing to get right. At Alverca he is Ikker Julian, and in full Ikker Julian de La Caridad Caldeira dos Santos — four parts, of which the last, dos Santos, is the one most often mistaken for a first name. Shortened one way he becomes a Julian; shortened another he becomes a dos Santos. Both belong to him, which is why the confusion keeps coming back.
He is Belgian, and he defends on the left. Left back is a specific job rather than a general one: the flank is his to hold, and the ball comes back down it whether or not he has gone forward with it.
His move to Portugal came for the 2025/26 season, when he signed for Clube Desportivo de Alverca — the club most people simply call Alverca. He arrived with a Belgian passport and a surname that reads Portuguese, into a squad where more than one defender answers to a version of Julian.
