Julian Brandt

Julian Brandt left SC Borgfeld and FC Oberneuland for VfL Wolfsburg's academy before Bayer Leverkusen signed him in January 2014 for a fee of €350,000. He stayed with Leverkusen until 2019, making 165 appearances and scoring 34 goals, though the club won no major trophies during his time there.

In May 2019, Brandt activated a release clause to join Borussia Dortmund for €25 million. He has gone on to make 218 appearances for the club and scored 43 goals. His major honour with Dortmund came in the 2020–21 season, when the team won the DFB-Pokal. He was also part of the squad that won the DFL-Supercup in 2019, though an adductor injury kept him out of the final itself. Brandt reached the Champions League final with Dortmund in the 2023–24 season, in which the club finished runners-up.

At international level, Brandt has earned 48 caps for Germany and scored three goals, against San Marino, Peru and Northern Ireland. He was part of the German squad that won gold at the 2017 Confederations Cup and silver at the 2016 Rio Olympics.

Brandt left Dortmund as a free agent at the end of July 2026, signing a three-year contract with Ajax that runs until 2029.
