About the player
Cabrera's path to Vaduz runs almost entirely through German football. Born in Montevideo, he holds dual Uruguayan and German nationality and moved through the youth system at Preußen Münster before joining the Schalke 04 academy, where he stayed until 2022. From there he went to the reserve side of FC Ingolstadt 04, then signed for FC Augsburg II as a free agent in July 2023.
It was at Augsburg's second team that Cabrera made his name. In the 2024–25 season he finished as joint top scorer in the Regionalliga Bayern with 18 league goals in 29 appearances, 24 in all competitions. The following summer he moved on a free transfer to SpVgg Greuther Fürth, signing a contract that was due to run until June 2026.
He has represented Uruguay at U17 and U20 level and also played for Germany's U19 side, but has not yet won a senior cap for either country.
In May 2026, FC Vaduz announced Cabrera's signing from Greuther Fürth, again on a free transfer, with Cabrera putting pen to paper on a contract until June 2028. The move takes him out of German football's lower and mid-table divisions and into the Swiss Challenge League.
