About the player
Ekeland grew up in the Viking FK academy in Stavanger and stayed there until 2016 before starting his senior career at FK Vidar, where he scored 9 goals in 42 matches in the 2. divisjon. A return to Viking followed in 2019, and though his own appearances were limited to 11 matches and a single goal, the year brought a Norwegian Cup medal with the club.
The move that shaped his career came in January 2020, when Ekeland joined Sandnes Ulf on a free transfer. Over three seasons in the 1. divisjon he became captain and one of the side's key men, scoring 19 goals in 64 league games.
In January 2026 Ekeland signed for Egersunds IK, again as a free agent, continuing a career in which every senior move he has made has been a free transfer.
