Jonathan Aldair Morocho Basurto

Jonathan Aldair Morocho Basurto came through the Independiente del Valle system, one of the clubs most closely associated with developing young Ecuadorian talent, but his path to regular first-team football took time. He was farmed out to Independiente Juniors in Serie B, where he made only two appearances across spells in 2020 and 2023, a sign of how far down the pecking order he sat.

The breakthrough came away from the club that raised him. Left without a contract in March 2025, Morocho signed for Cumbayá FC days later and made six appearances in Serie B. From there, in January 2026, he joined Delfín SC as a free agent, stepping up to Serie A. The move has paid off in playing time: he has featured in 16 matches for his new club, with two assists to his name so far.

A left-footed midfielder from Manabí, Morocho has built his career on incremental moves rather than a single defining transfer, working his way up from fringe appearances in the second tier to regular football in Ecuador's top flight. His contract with Delfín runs to the end of 2026.
