About the player
Jannis Zaydan grew up in Berlin and started out with Tennis Borussia Berlin, working through the club's youth teams before a spell in the U17 Regionalliga Nordost, where he made 15 appearances and scored once. He returned to the capital region a year later, joining Energie Cottbus's U19 team for the 2024/25 season.
Zaydan made 21 appearances for Cottbus's U19 side that season, scoring three goals and adding five assists, and carried that form into the first half of the following campaign with another ten outings.
His first-team debut in the 2. Bundesliga came against Hannover 96, where he started and played 45 minutes. He has since been named among the substitutes for matches against Wolfsburg, SpVgg Greuther Fürth and Augsburg. A left-footed full-back who can also operate as a left wing-back, Zaydan is still waiting for his first senior goal or assist, with his career at Cottbus's top level only just under way.
