Jamie Terence McGrath

Jamie McGrath signed for Aberdeen on a free transfer weeks after terminating his contract with Wigan Athletic in July 2023, along with teammates Jack Whatmough and Will Keane, after the club's previous ownership repeatedly failed to pay wages on time, a move taken on advice from the PFA under FIFA's rules on material breach. He went on to win the Scottish Cup with the club in 2024–25, beating Celtic on penalties after a 1–1 draw, though he was an unused substitute in the final itself having been influential in the semi-final win over Hearts. He joined Hibernian on a free transfer in July 2025 after agreeing a pre-contract in February that year, signing a four-year deal, and was voted both Men's Player of the Year and Player's Player of the Year in his first season at Easter Road.

McGrath came through the youth ranks at Athboy Celtic, Cherry Orchard and UCD before turning professional with St Patrick's Athletic in 2014. He moved to Dundalk in 2017, where he won back-to-back League of Ireland Premier Division titles in 2018 and 2019 alongside the FAI Cup and two League of Ireland Cups, and was named PFAI Young Player of the Year in 2018. A move to St Mirren followed in January 2020, and he was the club's Player of the Year for 2020–21 after scoring 17 goals from midfield. He then spent time at Wigan and, on loan, at Dundee United, winning League One with Wigan in 2021–22.

He made his Republic of Ireland debut in June 2021 against Andorra and started that September's World Cup qualifier away to Portugal, setting up John Egan's opener in a 2–1 defeat.
