About the player
João Carlos Heidemann came up through Atlético Paranaense's academy before Ponte Preta made his move away from Paraná permanent in 2016. Spells at CRB and CSA followed, and it was at CRB, in 2019, that he was named the best goalkeeper of the Campeonato Alagoano — a season in which he also won the state title with CSA.
He joined Cuiabá at the end of 2019.
João Carlos left for Botafogo-SP in January 2024, starting 22 Série B matches that season, before agreeing a return to Cuiabá at the end of 2025. He goes back to Mato Grosso for the 2026 season as backup to Walter rather than as first choice.
Internationally, his only representative experience came at under-17 level with Brazil in 2004 and 2005, without going on to earn senior caps.
