Joaquín Fernández Pertusso

Joaquín Fernández Pertusso came through the youth system at River Plate in Montevideo and made his way into the first team, staying there until 2020. That summer he moved to the Netherlands, signing a three-year contract with Heerenveen. The move did not immediately translate into regular first-team minutes: Heerenveen sent him out on loan twice, first to Montevideo City Torque in 2021, then to Atlético Atenas in 2022.

Fernández returned to Uruguay in January 2023, joining Boston River before switching to Atlético Atenas again later that year. In February 2024 he signed for Levski Sofia in Bulgaria, and the contract was terminated by mutual agreement just four months later, in June 2024.

He then crossed to Mexico, joining Dorados de Sinaloa in the Liga de Expansión MX in July 2024, before moving on to Club Tijuana in February 2025. Later that year he headed to Chile, signing with Deportes La Serena in August 2025. In January 2026 he arrived at Deportivo Maldonado as a free agent.

Internationally, Fernández has not been called up to Uruguay's senior side. His representative honours are limited to the youth ranks: one appearance for the under-18 team in 2017 and three caps for the under-20s in 2018.
