Santiago Valentín Ramírez Polero

Santiago Ramírez broke through at Nacional in Montevideo, where he made his mark in the 2021-2022 Primera División with three goals in 32 first-team appearances. He had two loan spells, first at Montevideo Wanderers and then at Rentistas, where he found the net three times across a season split into two stretches, in 2023 and again through the first half of 2024.

The move to Deportivo Maldonado came in February 2024, when he arrived from Rentistas on a deal that runs to the end of 2026. His first season at the club brought one goal in 15 appearances. Since then his output has grown: across the following campaigns he has been credited with six goals in 21 matches by one count, and as many as seven goals and two assists in 28 appearances by another, with the discrepancy reflecting a season still in progress rather than any change in his role.

Left-footed and wearing number 17 for Maldonado, Ramírez is a product of Mercedes. He scored eight goals for Uruguay's under-15 side, and he later featured for the under-20s in a friendly in 2024.
