Luciano Valente

Luciano Valente's route to Feyenoord ran through Groningen, where he grew up, joined local club GVAV Rapiditas as a boy and moved into the FC Groningen academy at the age of 10. He made his senior debut for the club at 18.

Feyenoord moved for him in the summer of 2025, agreeing a fee of around €7 million with Groningen that included a resale clause for the selling club. The transfer was confirmed on 2 July 2025 and Valente signed a four-year contract. He wasted little time making his mark in Rotterdam, making his debut in the Champions League against Fenerbahçe.

His first season at the club was not without friction. He picked up eight yellow cards and a red in the Eredivisie, sent off against FC Twente. In April 2026 he spoke out after a 1-1 draw with NEC Nijmegen, describing the decision to show only a yellow card for Philippe Sandler's foul on Ayase Ueda as a "real disgrace."

Internationally, Valente represented Italy at youth level before switching his allegiance to the Netherlands in 2025. He has earned caps for the Dutch senior side as well as for the Netherlands under-21s, for whom he has also scored.
