Lautaro Daniel Giannetti

Argentina named a South American Under-20 squad in 2013 with Lautaro Giannetti in it, and three years later he was in Rio, on the pitch for all three of Argentina's matches at the 2016 Olympic tournament. Both call-ups came while he was still building a career at one club.

Giannetti came through the academy at Vélez Sarsfield and made his first-team debut in 2012. His name sat in the squad for the titles that arrived almost immediately — the Torneo Inicial 2012, the Superfinal 2012–13 and the Argentine Super Cup in 2013 — but he did not appear in any of those matches. Regular football came later. From 2015 he was a fixture in the side, and by the time he left he had made 170 league appearances and scored three goals across twelve years at the club.

The high point of his defending came in 2020, when he was picked in the Equipo Ideal, the team of the tournament, for that year's Copa Libertadores. A year later there was talk of a move to Club América in Mexico. Nothing came of it.

He left for Europe on 5 January 2024, joining Udinese as a free agent on a deal running to June 2026. In Italy he played 22 Serie A matches and scored twice.

On 13 August 2025 he moved to Antalyaspor, signing for two seasons. He played 29 matches in the Turkish Süper Lig and scored once. In the summer of 2026 he went home, joining Newell's Old Boys on a contract to 30 June 2028.
