Leo Onni Artturi Väisänen

Leo Väisänen came through the youth ranks at Käpylän Pallo before joining HJK Helsinki in 2015, first appearing for the club's reserve side, Klubi 04, and helping it win the Kakkonen Eastern Group that year. He broke into HJK's first team in 2016, a season that ended with the Veikkausliiga title and the Finnish Cup, and spent part of that campaign on loan at PK-35 Vantaa. He left for RoPS Rovaniemi in November 2016, and it was there, in 2018, that he earned a place in the Veikkausliiga Team of the Year.

A move abroad followed, first to FC Den Bosch in the Netherlands, then in January 2020 to IF Elfsborg in Sweden. He was named the club's Player of the Year in 2021. That form earned him a switch to Major League Soccer, where he joined Austin FC in January 2023 on a contract running through 2026 with an option for 2027. Over two and a half seasons in Texas, he made 34 appearances, scoring once and setting up another goal.

Väisänen returned to Sweden in March 2025, signing for BK Häcken until June 2028. The move quickly turned into a setback: he played just ten minutes on his debut in the 2025 Allsvenskan season before suffering a serious knee injury in early April that ruled him out for the rest of the campaign.

At international level, Väisänen made his debut for Finland on 11 June 2019 against Liechtenstein in a Euro 2020 qualifier. He had earned 28 caps by early 2025, without having scored for the national side.
