About the player
Signed by Heart of Midlothian, he never made a league appearance for the Edinburgh club and instead learned his trade out on loan, at Stenhousemuir, Falkirk and Cowdenbeath, then Edinburgh City, before a short spell in Australia with Stirling Macedonia. A move to Arbroath followed in 2021.
In 2023–24 he was a key part of the Falkirk side that won the Scottish League One title undefeated, a campaign that earned him a place in the PFA Scotland Team of the Year for the division. The following season he was a central figure again as Falkirk won the Scottish Championship and went up to the Scottish Premiership, and he was named in the PFA Scotland Team of the Year for that division too, back-to-back recognition through consecutive promotions.
He has continued at Falkirk into the top flight, with his contract running to the end of the 2025–26 season. Oxford United and Plymouth Argyle were credited with interest in the summer of 2025, but no move materialised.
He plays as a left-footed central defender and should not be confused with the better-known midfielder of the same name who played for Celtic and Sampdoria.
