Lorena

Lorena spent 2025, her debut season in the United States, setting new records at Kansas City Current. She set new NWSL marks for clean sheets in a season, with 16, for fewest goals conceded, 13, and for consecutive shutout minutes, 869 — numbers that earned her the league's Goalkeeper of the Year award and a place on the Best XI First Team, and that carried Kansas City to the NWSL Shield.

The path there was not immediate. Lorena started out with Centro Olímpico in Brazil, where in 2016 she was a backup without a single senior appearance. Sport Recife gave her the first sustained run of first-team football, 27 league appearances across 2017 and 2018, before the club withdrew its women's team over financial difficulties. She rebuilt her career at Grêmio, staying from 2019 through 2024 and winning the Campeonato Gaúcho twice, in 2022 and 2024, before signing for Kansas City on a three-year deal in December 2024.

With Brazil she has been just as central. She was the starting goalkeeper through every minute of the 2024 Paris Olympics, where the team took silver and she was named the tournament's Best Goalkeeper. She has also won Copa América gold with Brazil twice, in 2022 and 2025. The 2025 edition brought a strange turn: sent off during the group stage, she returned for the final against Colombia, which Brazil went on to win.
