About the player
Lukas Petersson's route to Hoffenheim ran through several Berlin clubs before he settled. Born in Düsseldorf, he started out at FC Wiesharde before moving through Tennis Borussia Berlin and SSC Berlin, then joined VfB Rauenberg, leaving in 2015 to enter Hoffenheim's academy the same year. He stayed in the club's youth system for eight years before making his senior debut for Hoffenheim II in 2023, first in the Regionalliga Südwest and later in the 3. Liga.
In May 2024, Petersson was promoted to Hoffenheim's first-team squad ahead of the 2024–25 season. The club extended his contract to run until 2027, even as he continued to play through the second team.
At international level, Petersson has represented Iceland at youth level, appearing for the under-17s in 2019, the under-19s across 2022 and 2023, and the under-21s from 2023 onward. He has not yet featured for a senior national side.
Standing at 195 cm, Petersson plays right-footed. He has remained a Hoffenheim player throughout his career so far, with no transfers or loan spells to other clubs recorded.
