About the player
Mustapha Bundu was born in Freetown, Sierra Leone, and took his first steps in the game at the Craig Bellamy Academy. His senior career began modestly, with Newquay and then Hereford FC, where he scored 17 league goals in 17 appearances.
That form took him to AGF Aarhus in 2016, initially on trial, and he finished with 21 goals in 109 appearances and being named the division's Player of the Month in September 2019. His sale to RSC Anderlecht in 2020 set a record for AGF: limited to 11 appearances without a goal, he was sent out on loan three times, to FC København, back to AGF, and to FC Andorra, where he won the Copa Catalunya in 2022–23.
A permanent move to Plymouth Argyle followed in September 2023: he was carried off after a dangerous tackle in a match against QPR in December 2023 and later missed time with a hamstring injury sustained against Ipswich Town.
Internationally, Bundu has become a regular for Sierra Leone, scoring against Nigeria, São Tomé and Príncipe, and Guinea-Bissau among his four goals in 22 caps. While at Andorra, he was the first foreign player in the club's history to be called up by his country.
He joined Hannover 96 on a free transfer in June 2025, signing until 2028.
