Mamadou Pape Mbodj

Mamadou Pape Mbodj built the foundations of his career at Dakar Sacré-Cœur, spending a decade there between 2004 and 2014 before a free move took him to Europe with Red Star Belgrade. A loan spell at Napredak Kruševac followed during the 2014–15 season, giving him regular league minutes away from Belgrade.

His most productive stretch came in Lithuania. Over two seasons at Žalgiris Vilnius he made 90 league appearances and scored eight goals, winning the A Lyga title in 2016 and lifting the Lithuanian Cup in consecutive seasons, alongside two Lithuanian Supercups. He was named Žalgiris Player of the Year in 2017.

A free transfer to Neftçi Baku in 2019 extended his run of silverware: across three seasons in Azerbaijan he made 71 league appearances, scored seven goals and won the Azerbaijan Premier League in 2020–21. He continued collecting titles after joining Ordabasy in Kazakhstan in 2023, helping the club to the Kazakhstan Premier League crown that year and reaching the final of the Kazakhstan Cup.

Since then his career has taken him further afield still, through Hapoel Hadera in Israel and Dong A Thanh Hoa in Vietnam, before he joined Irtysh Pavlodar in 2026, again in Kazakhstan, where he now wears the number 26 shirt.

At international level, Mbodj represented Senegal at youth level, turning out for the under-20 side during the 2013 African U-20 Championship qualification and the 2013 Jeux de la Francophonie, and was called into the under-23 squad in April 2013 under coach Aliou Cissé.
