About the player
Maksym Sakuta is a Belarusian defender who worked his way up through the national federation's own academy before BATE Borisov took him on. He started at a sports school in Ivacevichy, moved to the ABFF Academy in 2022, and progressed through the age groups there until his senior debut for the academy's own team in the Belarusian First League in March 2025. By December that year he had signed his first professional contract, joining BATE Borisov.
His breakthrough at senior level came quickly. He made his first-team debut for BATE in the Belarusian Cup in March 2026, followed by a league debut a week later. In July 2026, at 18, Sakuta scored twice in a single match against FC Arsenal Dzerzhinsk, making him the youngest defender in the history of the Belarusian Premier League to record a brace.
He has not yet been called up to the senior national team.
