About the player
Twelve goals in twenty-five matches for Saint-Priest in 2023–24 changed the direction of Marco Rachid Essimi Ateba's career. The season at Saint-Priest was the first in which the goals came steadily, and it brought him a move up the divisions.
Dunkerque signed him on a free transfer in June 2024, giving him his first extended run in Ligue 2. He made 31 appearances in the 2024–25 season and scored six goals, and stayed with the club through the 2025–26 campaign.
Born in Yaoundé and holding both Cameroonian and French citizenship, he came through the youth systems at Le Blanc-Mesnil and Paris FC, then played reserve-team football at Paris FC and Dijon between 2018 and 2020. The years that followed were unsettled: Saint-Malo, Paris 13 Atletico, FC 93, Chantilly. At Jura Dolois in 2022–23 he played 23 matches and scored three times.
In June 2026 he signed for Alverca, again on a free transfer, with the contract running from 1 July 2026 for the 2026–27 season. Every transfer of his senior career has been free or for an undisclosed fee.
