About the player
Mato Stanić came through the youth ranks at Široki Brijeg before moving on to Dinamo Zagreb II in 2017. A short stint at Kustošija followed in 2018 before he returned to Široki Brijeg.
The move that shaped his career came in 2022, when Rijeka signed him and immediately sent him out on loan to Varaždin for the season. A year later he joined Zrinjski Mostar on a free transfer, and it was there that he won the Bosnia and Herzegovina Premier League in two consecutive seasons, 2022–23 and 2023–24. A loan to Zrinski Osječko 1664 punctuated that spell before he returned to Zrinjski for the remainder of the campaign.
Stanić went back to Široki Brijeg in September 2024, again on a free transfer, before joining Atyrau in Kazakhstan in July 2026, where he now wears the number 8 shirt.
At international level, he represented Bosnia and Herzegovina's under-19 side six times during qualification for the 2017 European Under-19 Championship, and won a single cap for the under-21s in a friendly in 2019. He has not featured for the senior national team.
