About the player
Matthew Connelly joined Motherwell as a youth player at the age of four and signed his first professional contract in April 2022. He went out to Falkirk, then Gretna 2008, before a stretch at Stranraer that brought five appearances.
Connelly made his Motherwell debut in August 2025, more than two decades after first arriving at the club as a boy.
He has represented Scotland at youth level, with one cap for the under-16s, but has not featured for the senior national side.
