About the player
Matvey Zakharzhevsky is a product of the Lokomotiv Moscow academy, where he moved through the youth ranks in the Youth Football League before stepping up to the Professional Football League. The clearest marker of his progress there came in the 2021/2022 season, when he won the Russian U16 Championship with Akademia Lokomotiv Moscow's U16 side. That form brought call-ups to the Russian U16 national team for selection camps in late 2022 and again in December 2023.
Zakharzhevsky signed his first professional contract with Lokomotiv Moscow in August 2024, a deal that ran until the end of 2025, and made his debut in the PFL during that spell. He left as a free agent in February 2026, joining Veles on a contract running through the end of the 2027/2028 season, with no transfer fee disclosed for the move.
At Veles, he has made a handful of appearances in the Russian First League without yet registering a goal or an assist. He has not been called up to the senior Russian national team.
