Mauro Daniel Rodrigues Teixeira

Football took Mauro Rodrigues from the youth ranks of FC Leukerbad into the Sion academy, and it was at Sion that he signed his first professional contract in February 2021 and made his official debut the following month in a 2-1 defeat. First-team opportunities at Sion remained limited, and in June 2022 the club sent him on loan to Yverdon Sport, a move that became permanent the following February when Yverdon took up the option to sign him outright.

Born in Funchal, Rodrigues built his career in Switzerland but represents Guinea-Bissau at international level, a link to family origin rather than to where he grew up. He has been capped for the national side since the early 2020s and has scored twice in his appearances for the team.

In February 2026 he moved to Ukraine on loan, joining Oleksandriya for the remainder of the 2025/26 season, with an option to make the transfer permanent.

Mauro Rodrigues's path has been defined less by a single dramatic moment than by steady progression through Swiss football before a first move abroad — from academy football at Sion, through the loan that turned into a permanent switch at Yverdon, to his move to Ukraine.
