About the player
Nico Zellhofer's route to the SKU Amstetten first team ran through the club's own reserve side. After coming up through the youth ranks at SC Gresten and then SG Waidhofen/Ybbs, he made three senior appearances for Waidhofen/Ybbs in 2024, scoring once, before Amstetten brought him into their NWZ setup that same year. He spent the 2024/25 season with SKU Amstetten II, scoring nine goals in 17 appearances, and capped the campaign by winning the league title with the club's U18 side, for whom he was also top scorer.
That form carried him into the first-team picture in 2025, and he made his 2. Liga debut in August 2025 against SKN St. Pölten. Before that debut, in a pre-season friendly against Union Dietach in the summer of 2025, Zellhofer scored a hat-trick, finding the net in the 2nd, 31st and 48th minutes as his side won 4-2. He has since opened his senior scoring account with a goal for the first team.
At 186 cm, he has not yet featured for an Austrian youth national side.
