SKU Amstetten

Amstetten had two clubs chasing the same public before 1997: ASK Amstetten, founded in 1932, and SC Union Amstetten, founded in 1946. Rather than keep splitting the town's attention, the two merged into SKU Amstetten, and black and white as the shared colours.

The new club found its level quickly in the lower reaches of Austrian football, winning the 2. Landesliga West in 1998/99 and finishing second there the year after. Two Niederösterreichische Landesliga titles followed, in 2007/08 and 2010/11, with a runner-up finish sandwiched between them in 2009/10.

Amstetten's clearest run at a bigger stage came in the ÖFB-Cup, where the club reached the quarter-final twice, in 2013/14 and again in 2019/20. The 2019/20 squad included Stefan Feiertag, a forward who scored 29 goals in 53 appearances across 2021 to 2023 — a cousin of Christoph Baumgartner — before moving on to Blau-Weiß Linz and then to Poland. Daniel Maderner passed through a season earlier, 12 goals in 25 games in 2019/20, and went on to Rheindorf Altach, Beveren and Grazer AK.

Supporters know the club by "Wir fürs Mostviertel" — Amstetten sits in that cider-growing corner of Lower Austria, and the phrase ties the team to the region rather than to any nickname of its own.
