About the player
Tiago Estêvão was born in Heinsberg to a family of Portuguese descent. He came up through the Borussia Mönchengladbach academy before moving abroad to FC Porto and later returning to Germany with Bayer Leverkusen. He played for the country's under-19 side and trained with the under-21 squad under Sérgio Conceição, but he holds German citizenship and has not won a senior cap for either nation.
His senior career started modestly at FC Wegberg-Beeck, where he made ten league appearances before a move to SV Rödinghausen in July 2022. He spent three seasons there, making 16 league games and a single cup appearance. A switch to Borussia Dortmund II followed in June 2023, with just two appearances in the 3. Liga before his departure at the end of the 2024/25 season.
Each of those moves came on a free transfer, a pattern that has followed him to SKU Amstetten, where he now plays in Austria's second tier. At 193 cm, he has the physical profile of a modern goalkeeper.
