Nicolas Hasler

Since 2021 Nicolas Hasler has captained Liechtenstein, and by March 2026 he had earned 111 caps for the national side. He made his debut against Iceland in August 2010 and scored his first international goal three years later, against Bosnia and Herzegovina.

Hasler came through the youth ranks at FC Triesen before moving on to FC Balzers, where he also began his senior career. A season at USV Eschen/Mauren followed before he joined FC Vaduz in 2011, a spell that brought five Liechtensteiner Cup wins in succession and the Swiss Challenge League title in 2013–14.

In July 2017 he left on a free transfer for Toronto FC, where he won the MLS Cup and Supporters' Shield that year and added the Canadian Championship the following season. Chicago Fire signed him a year later in a deal that sent $50,000 in allocation money and player Jon Bakero the other way. Released in April 2019, he joined Sporting Kansas City as a free agent before moving to Europe in January 2020 to sign for FC Thun, later extending his contract there.

He returned to FC Vaduz on a free three-year deal in July 2022. Off the back of his form for club and country, Hasler has twice been named Liechtensteiner Young Player of the Year and four times Liechtensteiner Footballer of the Year, most recently in 2025.
