About the player
Jokelainen came through the Tervarit academy in Oulu and made his senior debut for AC Oulu in 2015, aged just 15, while the club was playing in the Ykkönen. A year later he left for England, joining Stoke City's academy on a free transfer, but he made no senior appearances there and returned to Finland in 2017 to sign with Ilves. A loan spell at JJK brought six Ykkönen appearances before he moved on permanently to RoPS in November 2018, where he made 20 Veikkausliiga appearances and scored twice the following season.
He went back to AC Oulu in December 2019, and the following year the club won the Ykkönen title to secure promotion to the Veikkausliiga, with Jokelainen scoring five goals in 21 league matches along the way. A brief loan to OLS in 2022 added a single Kakkonen appearance to his record. At international level, he worked his way through Finland's youth ranks, from the U17s through to the U21s, without yet making his senior debut.
Individually, his recent form was recognised when he was named Player of the Year for the Northern Region by the Football Association of Finland for the 2024 season.
